CLIENT STORY | KAREN

From 1,000 steps a day to walking 8 miles

When Karen first came to me, chronic knee pain meant she was averaging around 1,000 steps a day. She wanted to lose weight, feel healthier and be able to do more — but getting there meant finding an approach she could actually live with.

WHERE IT STARTED

Karen wanted to lose weight — but there was more
going on

When Karen first got in touch, weight loss was part of the goal. But chronic knee pain, very low activity levels and years of struggling with food meant simply giving her a diet and exercise plan wasn't going to solve much.

WHEN WE STARTED...

✓ Averaging around 1,000 steps a day
✓ Chronic knee pain made being active difficult
✓ Struggling with her weight and food
✓ Exercise wasn't a normal part of her week
✓ Wanted to feel healthier and more capable

WHAT WE NEEDED TO WORK ON...

✓ Finding ways to move that worked for her
✓ Building activity gradually
✓ Making food feel less difficult
✓ Dealing with setbacks without giving up
✓ Building confidence in what she could actually do

This wasn't going to be fixed by handing Karen a meal plan and telling her to exercise more.

HOW WE WORKED TOGETHER

We didn't try to change everything at once

Karen's coaching was completely remote. We started with weekly video calls and stayed in contact between them, working on whatever was getting in the way at the time.

There wasn't a rigid programme that she had to follow perfectly. We looked at her food, activity, training and the situations where things tended to go off track, then decided what made sense to work on next.

Some weeks that meant looking at meals or increasing her activity. Other weeks we worked on motivation, confidence, emotions or simply how to deal with a difficult week without writing the whole thing off.

As Karen became more confident and things started to feel more natural, she needed less from me. Weekly calls gradually became less frequent, and today we only catch up once a month.

The coaching changed as Karen changed.

WHERE KAREN IS NOW

The numbers tell part
of the story

Over time, the small changes added up. Karen's life today looks very different from when we started.

01

4 STONE LOST

Karen has lost around 4 stone without having to live on a restrictive diet or constantly start again.

02

8,000+ STEPS A DAY

From averaging around 1,000 steps a day, Karen now regularly averages more than 8,000.

03

TRAINING TWICE A WEEK

Exercise is now a normal part of her week, and she's even walked around 8 miles in one go.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

The biggest changes aren't on the scales

Losing around 4 stone is a huge achievement. But when Karen talks about what's changed, there's much more to it than her weight.

01

MORE CONFIDENCE & FREEDOM

Karen can do things now that simply weren't part of her life before. She's more confident, more independent and doesn't have to make every decision around what her body might allow her to do.

02

LESS PAIN, MORE LIFE

Chronic knee pain used to severely limit how active Karen could be. She's now regularly walking thousands of steps a day, training in the gym and has even completed an 8-mile walk.

03

INVESTING IN HER FUTURE

This isn't just about what Karen can do today. She's building the strength, fitness and habits that will help her stay active, capable and independent as she gets older.

Karen didn't just lose weight. What she's able to do, how she feels about herself and what she expects from the years ahead have all changed.

READY TO MAKE A CHANGE?

Your starting point doesn't matter

Karen started with around 1,000 steps a day, chronic knee pain and a lot she wanted to change.

We didn't know exactly what the journey would look like when we started. We just worked on what mattered, dealt with problems as they came up and kept moving forward.

If you'd like that kind of support, send me a message and tell me a little about where you are now and where you'd like to get to.
